SR Breakout Scalper M1

A simple scalping approach combining M5 market direction, M1 market structure, breakout confirmation and retest entry.

Introduction

SR Breakout Scalper M1 is a MetaTrader 4 Expert Advisor based on a simple multi-timeframe market structure concept.

The EA first determines the short-term market direction on the M5 chart. It then moves to the M1 chart and waits for market structure, a breakout and a retest before considering an entry.

Direction on M5 → Structure on M1 → Breakout → Retest → Entry.

This EA is intended for strategy testing and systematic execution. It does not guarantee profits. Spread, slippage, execution quality, broker conditions and changing market conditions can affect results.

Strategy Overview

1. M5Determine direction
2. M1Identify structure
3. BreakoutBreak S/R
4. RetestConfirm the move
5. EntryOpen trade

The strategy focuses on price structure rather than using a large collection of technical indicators.

1. Determine Direction on M5

The first step is performed on the 5-minute chart. The EA searches for recent swing support and resistance levels.

Potential BUY Direction

Price is trading above a recent M5 support level. The market is treated as having a bullish short-term bias.

Potential SELL Direction

Price is trading below a recent M5 resistance level. The market is treated as having a bearish short-term bias.

The M5 chart provides context. The EA does not enter simply because price is above support or below resistance.

2. Confirm Market Structure on M1

After the M5 direction is identified, the EA examines the M1 chart and compares recent swing highs and lows.

Bullish Structure

The latest swing high is higher than the previous swing high, and the latest swing low is higher than the previous swing low.

Bearish Structure

The latest swing high is lower than the previous swing high, and the latest swing low is lower than the previous swing low.

3. Wait for the Breakout

Once the M1 market structure agrees with the M5 direction, the EA waits for a breakout.

BUY Breakout

The M1 candle closes above the relevant M5 resistance level.

SELL Breakout

The M1 candle closes below the relevant M5 support level.

A small internal breakout buffer is used to reduce entries caused by very small movements around the level.

4. Retest Confirmation

The EA waits for price to return toward the breakout level instead of entering immediately after the breakout.

BUY Retest

Price returns toward the broken resistance and then closes back above the breakout area.

SELL Retest

Price returns toward the broken support and then closes back below the breakout area.

If the retest does not confirm within the internal waiting period, the setup is cancelled.

5. Entry Logic

BUY SELL
M5 bullish direction M5 bearish direction
M1 Higher High + Higher Low M1 Lower High + Lower Low
Resistance breakout Support breakout
Retest confirmed Retest confirmed
Open BUY Open SELL

6. Stop Loss and Take Profit

The EA uses a simple fixed-pip stop loss and a configurable risk-reward ratio.

For example, with a 10-pip stop loss and a 2.0 risk-reward ratio, the theoretical target distance is 20 pips.

External Inputs

The EA intentionally keeps external settings simple. Most of the strategy logic is fixed internally.

Parameter Default Description
LotSize 0.10 Trading volume for each position.
MagicNumber 100520 Unique identifier for trades opened by this EA.
StopLossPips 10.0 Fixed stop-loss distance in pips.
RiskReward 2.0 Take-profit distance as a multiple of stop-loss distance.
MaxSpreadPips 1.5 Maximum spread allowed for a new trade.

Example Settings

LotSize = 0.10
MagicNumber = 100520
StopLossPips = 10.0
RiskReward = 2.0
MaxSpreadPips = 1.5

These values are examples, not recommended settings. They should be evaluated through historical and forward testing under the conditions of the intended broker and trading environment.

Why Keep the Logic Simple?

  • No large collection of indicators.
  • No complicated external parameter list.
  • M5 is used for market direction.
  • M1 is used for market structure.
  • Breakout provides the trigger.
  • Retest provides additional confirmation.
  • Stop loss and risk-reward are easy to understand.

The purpose is to turn a discretionary chart-reading concept into a clearly defined set of rules that can be tested consistently in MT4.

Testing

  1. Run a historical MT4 backtest on the intended currency pair.
  2. Test different market periods rather than relying on one period.
  3. Review spread and execution conditions.
  4. Compare results under different market conditions.
  5. Forward-test before considering live deployment.
Historical backtest results are not a guarantee of future performance. Real trading can differ because of spread, slippage, execution delays and changing market conditions.

Conclusion

SR Breakout Scalper M1 follows one central idea: do not enter simply because price is moving.

First identify the short-term direction on M5. Then wait for the appropriate M1 market structure. After that, wait for a meaningful breakout and a confirming retest before entering.
